IN THE ENDING
How do you end a book like this? It's just like the telephone book, a lot of characters,
but not much of a plot. It could just go on and on.
While I was struggling with this idea one day, it occurred to me that it would be just
fine if it did go on and on. So I did the following:
I decided to end this book at about 800 license
plates.
I decided to offer you, the reader, a chance to be
part of the next book in the continuing saga of
license plate lore.
On the following page, you will find my famous "interview postcard" form. If you
have a license that you would like me to include in my next book, fill out the form. Mail
or fax the information to me.
If you know of others who have great plates, give them copies of the form and ask them to
send them in. If you put your name somewhere on the forms that you distribute, I'll see to
it that you get credit for your contribution in the book.
Just one more thing: In this book, I personally selected the vast majority of the plates,
and I had close friends or relatives select the rest. I may not agree with your idea of a
great plate. Hence, in the finest tradition of what my journalistic hero Dave Barry would
call "booger journalism", I reserve the right to decide which plates will be
included in the next book.
Thank you for joining me on this little odyssey. I hope to be writing to you again soon.
